Jasper’s Christmas Miracle
Like we share in our story, do-overs aren’t always an option. Sometimes our circumstances are less than desirable, and it’s up to us to either accept the season we’re in and press on, or give up.
Some of us are more fortunate than others.
Jasper, on the other hand, has had it rough since day one. He’s got sensory issues that make it difficult for him to walk on some surfaces, navigate his surroundings, and even do basic things—like eat. Thankfully, Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge took Jasper in when the shelter he was in closed down. When Blue Chip agreed to take Jasper, the former shelter gave Blue Chip everything they had left—monetarily and regarding supplies.
Blue Chip gave Jasper the love, specialized care, and attention he needed, and because of Blue Chip, Jasper got a do-over!
Jasper’s Homecoming
We think Jasper arrived at Blue Chip just around the time we published this blog post after visiting to donate some extra greens after a super abundant harvest. At Back Mountain Microgreens, when we talk about sowing seeds and harvesting, it’s usually baby vegetables we’re talking about—our microgreens! However, when Luke visited Blue Chip and met Jasper, a seed of wanting to help was sown in Luke’s heart. Luke kept up with the posts Blue Chip shared about Jasper on Facebook and we were hopeful that someone would take him in, but it just didn’t seem to be happening. Fast forward to this past Friday; Luke dropped off a few more greens and Jasper was still there.
Long story short—Jasper is HOME!
He came home with Luke Friday afternoon, after a meet and greet with our pup-at-heart Ace went well. It’s been about a week now and Jasper is settling in nicely. He’s got the lay of the land—inside the house and out in the yard—and we’re slowly learning about him and what he needs from us to be happy here. Ace seems to understand there is something a bit different about Jasper, and although Ace plays rough with Luke, he’s very gentle and patient with Jasper—especially considering Jasper’s laughable lack of respect for everyone’s personal space! Between Luke, myself, and our boys, Jasper is doted on often and is usually in physical contact with one of us—and that’s the way he seems to prefer it! We’re looking forward to many more years together!
This is where we’d usually link to our order page…
(and you can certainly purchase microgreens here!)
… but why not also consider adopting an animal waiting for a loving, forever home?
If you’ve got room in your heart and home, click the button below, visit Blue Chip’s website, and be the miracle that saves one (or more!) of the hundreds of other animals alone in shelters this holiday season.
‘Tis the season of giving!
Jasper is settling in well, and the parallels between his story and our own are tugging at my heart strings. Jasper has had it rough. Luke and I know how he feels because the past several years have been rough on us too. Health concerns, tight finances, and emotional heart break have taken a toll on us. Back Mountain Microgreens is a new start for Luke and myself—just like coming home to our place is a new start for Jasper. As I write, it’s Friday, December 22nd. Christmas is right around the corner and ‘tis the season of giving! A lot of us give during this time of year to reflect the gift God gave us in Jesus, and because—just like Acts 20:35 tells us—“It is more blessed to give than to receive.“ We’re glad what Jasper needs is exactly what we’re happy giving! … Patience, love, time, a warm place to sleep on a comfy bed by the fire, and on and on and on! No more looking for facebook posts, wondering if this guy finally found someone to love him.
The best things in life are free…
When it comes to giving, sometimes it’s simpler to give what people want, rather than what they need. But, what people want often requires money to give, while what they need is often free—the same goes for Jasper. It will take a bit of cash at the vet, and a bit more cash for his food, but the bulk of what Jasper needs doesn’t cost a dime. It makes me think of our family. We have what we need… our bills are paid, there is food in the fridge, we’ve got a roof over our head and it’s warm where I’m sitting even though it’s freezing outside. Contemplating all of this has me wondering what else we can give, though. There are so many animals—and people!—who don’t have the bare necessities we enjoy.
Can I clue you in on a secret, too?
I’m praying that Back Mountain Microgreens grows and grows and grows like crazy, because we really want to help (wherever it’s needed) more and more and more. Let’s hope 2024 is a great year because there is so much more to do and give! Jasper is just the start!
A Christmas Miracle
Although Jasper had a rough start, he found a temporary home at Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge, and it’s miracle season! Christmas is a celebration of one of the most well known miracles to man—the birth of our Savior, Jesus. We’re thankful for the gift God gave us in Jesus, and so, we welcomed Jasper into our family just like Jesus welcomes us into His.
Jasper has a “forever home” now, here with us at Back Mountain Microgreens, and we hope his many fans are as excited to join in celebrating his homecoming as we are!
Merry Christmas everyone!
Here’s to the season of celebrating miracles!
